Data Deletion Request

How to request full deletion of your personal data from Yuusk, and what happens when you do.

Last updated: May 2026

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable privacy laws, you have the right to request the deletion of your personal data held by Yuusk. This page explains how to make that request, what data is deleted, what may be retained, and the timelines involved.

You can also close your account from account settings. Closing an account restricts normal account use quickly; a formal deletion request is the stronger privacy process used when you want personal data removed subject to legal retention rules.

Your Right to Erasure

You have the right to request that we delete your personal data when:

  • The data is no longer necessary for the purpose it was collected;
  • You withdraw consent (and no other legal basis applies);
  • You object to processing and we have no overriding legitimate grounds;
  • Your data has been unlawfully processed;
  • Deletion is required to comply with a legal obligation.

We will comply with all valid deletion requests unless we have a legitimate legal or contractual reason to retain certain data.

How to Request Deletion

You can submit a data deletion request in one of the following ways:

  • Email [email protected] with the subject "Data Deletion Request" and the email address associated with your account;
  • Email our privacy team directly at [email protected];
  • Use our Contact form and mention "Data Deletion" in the subject line.

To protect against fraudulent requests, we may verify your identity before processing the deletion. Please be prepared to confirm the email address linked to your account.

If you no longer have access to the account email, include any details that help us identify the correct account, such as profile ID, approximate registration date, payment reference, previous email address, or support ticket number. We may decline the request if we cannot verify ownership with reasonable confidence.

What We Delete

Upon a valid deletion request, we will permanently remove:

  • Your account credentials (email address and hashed password);
  • Your full profile: name, gender, date of birth, photo, "About me" text, spoken languages, nationality, height, body type, eye colour, and hair colour;
  • Your message history with other members;
  • Your email verification records;
  • Any photos or media you uploaded;
  • Your preferences and settings;
  • Any contact form submissions linked to your identity.

Where practical, uploaded media is removed from active storage and profile references are cleared. If a copy exists only inside encrypted backups, it is isolated from normal use and removed through the backup rotation process described below.

What We May Retain

In some circumstances, we are required or entitled to retain certain data after account deletion:

  • Anonymised analytics data — visit counts, page view statistics, and aggregated usage metrics that cannot be linked back to you;
  • Legal and compliance records — records of accounts suspended for violating our Terms or for fraud/abuse, retained for up to 6 years as required by applicable law;
  • Billing records — if you made any payments, transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years for accounting and tax compliance;
  • Reports and investigations — if you or another member filed a safety report, that record may be retained for the duration of any investigation or legal proceeding.
  • Suppression records — if you unsubscribed, reported an email, or bounced repeatedly, a limited record may be kept to prevent future sending.
  • Security records — IP, device, abuse or fraud indicators may be retained where needed to prevent repeat abuse or protect other members.

When we retain data, we keep only what is reasonably necessary for the retained purpose and restrict access internally.

Timeline

  • Acknowledgement: We will confirm receipt of your request within 3 business days;
  • Processing: Your account and associated data will be deleted within 30 days of your verified request;
  • Backups: Residual copies in encrypted backups are overwritten within 90 days of the deletion date;
  • Confirmation: We will send you a confirmation email once the deletion is complete.

When We May Decline a Request

We may be unable to fulfil a deletion request where:

  • We are required to retain the data by law (e.g., tax records, fraud investigations);
  • The data is necessary to defend against a legal claim;
  • The data is necessary to complete an ongoing transaction or service obligation;
  • We cannot verify your identity with sufficient certainty.

If we decline your request, we will explain the reason in writing and inform you of your right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Account Closure vs. Data Deletion

Closing or deactivating your account is not the same as requesting data deletion. A closed account prevents normal use of the account and removes it from ordinary member activity, but your data may still be retained in our systems. If you want your data permanently removed, you must submit an explicit deletion request as described above.

If you later create a new account using the same email after a previous account was closed, the new account may still be reviewed for abuse prevention, duplicate-account history, chargeback risk or prior safety concerns where retention is legally permitted.

Messages and Shared Content

Some content involves more than one person. For example, messages are part of a conversation between members, reports may involve a reporter and a reported member, and support tickets may include staff replies. We remove or anonymise your personal data where appropriate, but we may preserve limited records where necessary to protect the rights, safety or legitimate interests of others.

Backups and Technical Logs

Backups are maintained for security and disaster recovery. They are not used as active production records. After deletion from active systems, residual backup copies are overwritten according to backup rotation, normally within 90 days, unless a backup must be preserved for security investigation, legal claim or regulatory obligation.
